A full spring day combining Keukenhof and real working tulip fields — planned around crowds
If you want to see Keukenhof and real working tulip fields in one well-paced day, this is the tour I recommend.
Keukenhof is beautiful, but it adds driving time and crowds. I recommend an early start (7:30 a.m. departure) so you can enjoy the gardens at their most quiet moments, something you will be grateful for once you see the crowds arrive when you leave.
This tour is all about showing you two very different sides of tulips in the Netherlands:
- Working fields where tulips are grown for trade, far away from the busy tour buses
- The carefully and beautifully designed gardens at Keukenhof
Who This Tour Is For — And Who Should Skip It
This tour is a good fit if you:
- Want to see Keukenhof but don’t want to deal with transport, parking, or timing
- Prefer a full, varied day rather than only one location
- Enjoy gardens and countryside
- Appreciate a flexible plan that adjusts to crowds and bloom conditions
This tour is not ideal if you:
- Want to spend most of the day inside Keukenhof
- Prefer a shorter or half-day outing
If your main focus is Keukenhof alone, my Keukenhof Gardens — Private Tour is usually the better choice.
How the Day Works
This is a private full-day tour
- I pick you up at your accommodation
- We time the Keukenhof visit to avoid the busiest periods as much as possible
- After Keukenhof, we head into the countryside to visit real working tulip fields
- There’s time to stop, walk, and enjoy the landscape — not just look from the car
Because bloom and crowds change week by week, I adjust the order of the day when needed.
What Makes This Different From Standard Keukenhof Tours
Most Keukenhof tours:
- Only focus on the gardens
- No early arrival options
- Limited time at the gardens
- Skip the true working fields, and take you to “small for tourists only fields”
- Follow a fixed timetable
This tour is different because:
- It’s private — no group pace
- The fields are chosen based on what looks best that week
- I handle tickets, parking, and logistics
- The day stays flexible if conditions change
You are truly the best! From the bottom of my heart, we are so thankful for today. And again, beyond your easy company and knowledge, your attention to details is simply superb!

When I Recommend This Tour Most
I usually suggest this option for:
- First-time visitors who want the classic Keukenhof visit but also see the real fields
- Guests who want both well-known sights and quieter countryside
If tulips are a highlight of your trip, this tour gives you the most balanced view of them.
Not Sure Which Tulip Tour Fits Best?
I’m happy to help if you’re deciding between (send me a message):
- Flower Auction + Fields (focused on how tulips are grown and traded)
- Tulip Fields & Keukenhof (this tour, focused on pretty photos from different experiences)
- Keukenhof only (just the famous gardens, not the fields)
If you’d like to see everything — the flower auction, real working tulip fields, and Keukenhof in one day — that’s possible.
We extend this tour by approximately four hours and include it all. The extended private tour starts at €1,399.

My wife and I worked with Gerrit before our trip to the Netherlands this past April. His advice was invaluable and transformed our trip. We toured with him for two days while we were there and he was able to quickly respond to variety of situations (changes in weather etc) creatively and easily.
In addition he is very personable and knowledgeable. We can’t recommend him highly enough!
