If you’re visiting the Netherlands in April and want to see the famous Dutch Flower Parade (Bloemencorso), you need a clear plan for how you’ll see it.
This guide is for you if you prefer comfort, clear structure, and knowing where to stand before the crowds arrive.
It’s not for you if you’re happy to show up last minute and simply see what happens.
I’ve guided guests to the parade for years, and the difference between a smooth day and a frustrating one usually comes down to one decision: how you choose to experience it.
Let me walk you through your options.

First Decision To Make: How Do You Want to Experience the Parade?
There are three realistic ways to see the Bloemencorso.
1️⃣ Stand Along the Route (Free)
Best if you:
- Don’t mind waiting
- Are comfortable standing 2–3 hours
- Like flexibility to move around
I personally prefer this option because I know exactly where to stand. Location makes all the difference.
The most crowded section is around Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, so skip that spot.
If you choose this option, arrive at least an hour early.
2️⃣ Book A Tour From Amsterdam Including Grandstand Seating
This option is best if you:
- Prefer structure
- Want a guaranteed elevated view
- Don’t want to arrive very early
Seats range from €119.50 to €159.50 including transportation (see three great options below).
You trade flexibility for comfort and an elevated view.
If standing is difficult for you, this is often the better choice because you have a guaranteed seat and the bus drops you close to the stands.
I’ll break down which stands I’d personally consider below.
3️⃣ Book Me As Your Private Driver Guide for the Day (Most Comfortable Option)
Note: I am already booked for April 18, and no longer available
This service is not for everyone but it is a great option if you:
- Want door-to-door service
- Prefer not to deal with road closures
- Want to combine the parade, Keukenhof, and/or with tulip fields or another town
On April 18, many roads close between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. near Lisse and Keukenhof.
Every year, I see visitors underestimate this.
If comfort matters to you and your schedule is tight, this is usually the smoothest way to experience the parade.

Flower Parade Tours from Amsterdam (2026) – Grandstand Options
If you’re staying in Amsterdam and don’t want to deal with train schedules, road closures, or where to stand, these are the three structured tour options available in 2026.
I’ll explain who each one is really for.
🌙 Illuminated Evening Flower Parade + Keukenhof
€149.50
This is a very special tour that you can only book for Friday, April 17, 2026
This tour includes:
- Transportation from Amsterdam. Departing 3 P.M.
- Visit to famous Keukenhof gardens first
- See the illuminated evening parade when it gets dark
- Includes Grandstand seats
This works great if:
- You’re in the Netherlands on Friday night April 17
- You prefer smaller crowds (compared the main parade day)
- You enjoy evening events
The illuminated parade is shorter, but visually different. The floats are lit, and the atmosphere feels calmer than Saturday afternoon.
I recommend this option if your Saturday is already planned or if you want a more relaxed version of the parade. If you prefer to see the main parade on Saturday and visit Keukenhof I included an option for that too below.
⤷ Book the illuminated evening parade here →
🚌 Flower Parade Tour (Transport + Grandstand)
€94.50
This tour is only available on Saturday, April 18, 2026
The tour includes:
- Transportation from Amsterdam
- Grandstand seating
- Tulip Farm visit
This is the most straightforward option.
You’re taken to a reserved seat, watch the parade comfortably, and return to Amsterdam.
Best if:
- You only want to see the parade
- You prefer structure
- You don’t want a full-day commitment
This is efficient.
But it does not include Keukenhof.

🌷 Keukenhof + Flower Parade (incl. Grandstand) + Lunch (Full-Day)
€159.50 SOLD OUT
This tour is only available on Saturday, April 18, 2026
And it includes:
- Transportation from Amsterdam
- Grandstand seating
- Lunch
- Keukenhof Gardens
If you only have one tulip day in your itinerary and you are in the Netherlands on April 18, 2026, this is the most complete option.
It combines:
- The designed gardens at Keukenhof Gardens
- A reserved parade seat
- Transport during heavy road closures
- Lunch
Which One Would I Choose?
If I were visiting for the first time and had only one tulip day, I would book the €159.50 full-day option on April 18.
It removes decisions.
If I already visited Keukenhof earlier in the week, I would choose the €94.50 half-day tour instead.
If you’re only in the country on April 17, or you’ve seen the main parade already before I’d go with Friday’s illuminated parade.
Weather in April
April weather in the Netherlands is unpredictable.
Certainly bring:
- A waterproof jacket
- Comfortable shoes
- Patience
Transportation: What to Know Before You Drive
By Train
Haarlem is often the easiest choice without a car. The parade ends here, and the floats remain on display on Sunday, April 19.
It’s about 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam.
Staying overnight in Haarlem gives you more relaxed viewing the next day.
Sassenheim is also accessible by train from Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport.
By Car (Be Careful)
Major road closures:
- 1 p.m.–6 p.m.: Lisse town center
- 2 p.m.–5 p.m.: Around Keukenhof
- 8 p.m.–11 p.m.: Haarlem city center
If you park at Keukenhof before noon, you may not be able to leave until late afternoon.
I generally advise either committing early to one location or avoiding driving entirely. Unless you know the area very well, I don’t recommend driving yourself that day.
Private Flower Parade Day With Me
I know several viewing spots where you can sit while waiting and still have a clear view. In the afternoon, we can continue to tulip fields, Delft, Kinderdijk, or another town that fits your itinerary. I pick you up directly at your accommodation in a full-electric KIA EV9.
Is the Bloemencorso Flower Parade Worth It?
Yes — if:
- You’re visiting during these specific dates
- You enjoy cultural events
- You’re comfortable with crowds
No — if:
- You dislike waiting
- You prefer quiet countryside experiences
- Your schedule is already tight
If you’re unsure whether it fits your overall trip, book a short planning call with me. I’ll tell you honestly if I think it’s worth your time.
Future Dates
2027: April 17 (main parade day)
Dates can change slightly depending on logistics and holidays, so always confirm closer to your trip.
Final Thought
The Bloemencorso is one of the most recognizable spring events in the Netherlands.
The floats are impressive.
The key is deciding how you want to experience it.

Frequently Asked Questions Flower Parade in Holland
Why does the Netherlands have a flower parade?
The parade started in 1947 to celebrate the bulb-growing region between Noordwijk and Haarlem. The Netherlands is one of the world’s largest flower exporters, and this event showcases that industry in a very public way. It’s less about folklore, more about celebrating spring and the flower trade.
What happens if I need to use a restroom during the flower parade?
If you book a grandstand, restroom access is included. If you stand along the free route, public toilets are placed roughly every 500 meters, and cafés often allow use with a purchase. I always recommend using facilities before the floats arrive — once they pass, movement becomes difficult.
Can I bring my food and drinks to the flower parade?
Yes. Grandstands usually offer catering, and there are vendors along the route. If you’re standing freely, I suggest bringing water and something small to eat. Waiting can take longer than expected.
Is it worth to pay €159 For the Grandstand Seats and Keukenhof?
If you only have one tulip day, yes this complete full-day tour option is worth the money. It combines: the famous Keukenhof Gardens, A reserved parade seat (avoids standing for a long time, and an elevated view), transportation, and lunch. If you’ve already visited Keukenhof earlier in the week, I would choose the €119.50 half-day parade only option instead.
Which is better – the main parade or the illuminated parade?
The illuminated parade offers something very different and smaller crowds. Consider watching both – the illuminated Friday night parade and the Saturday main parade from a different location. They’re each unique in their way. Otherwise it comes down to timing most.
