Holland Private Tours with Gerrit and Partners

I’m passionate about introducing travelers to Amsterdam and the Netherlands, which led me to offer in-person Holland private tours.

Below you’ll find the six private tours that I offer.

Taking a break is important while taking one of the day trips in Amsterdam.

I have space for one private tour a week. If you’d like to book a tour with me, I recommend booking early, especially during April, May and summer, when places fill up quickly.

Because my availability is limited I’ve also teamed up with local partners that I trust and feel good about because they work with highly qualified local guides, and most of the money you spend stays local.

Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh Museum Introduction (Gerrit)

Museum Visit

Taking a private tour at the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam.

I love Amsterdam museums. I visit the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museums multiple times a year privately. And with customers as one of my six Holland private tours.

Trivia: my mom and I have a bi-weekly date to visit a museum in the country together. It’s something we both enjoy so much!

I’d love to be your guide for an introductory museum tour of the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum.

  • Length: 2 hours
  • Price: €200 (per party). Museum ticket excluded.
  • Transportation: We meet at the museum.

PS: to learn more about the museums, here is my Rijksmuseum Paintings article and my Rijksmuseum Art (Non-Paintings) article, and here is my Van Gogh Museum Tips article.

This is an excellent introduction to Dutch art for first-time visitors. If I’m not available, With Locals also offers great options.

Full-Day Zaanse Schans, Volendam, Marken, Edam (Gerrit)

Classic Dutch Countryside Tour

The Zaanse Schans Windmills The Netherlands.
Discover the Zaanse Schans together – © Hidden Holland

It’s not precisely a hidden gem. These towns are popular. You can make this tour on your own or with a large group on a tour bus, or you can go with me on a private tour.

You can enjoy this famous itinerary from the comfort of a private car (SUV), with no strangers joining us on this Holland private tour.

Because we have more time 1-1, I can share stories and backgrounds that large tour companies can not do.

  • Length: 7-9 hours
  • Price: €700 (per party). Excluding meals and tickets.
  • Transportation: Car (SUV) I pick you up at your accommodation.

PS: to learn more about the Zaanse Schans, read my article here, and I have another one about Volendam and Marken here.

This is an excellent introduction to the Dutch countryside and a chance to take many pictures of windmills!

Full-Day Kinderdijk and Delft (Gerrit)

Windmills and Dutch History

Kinderdijk windmills with boat.
Beautiful view on Kinderdijk – © Hidden Holland

Kinderdijk is the most famous spot in the country for seeing Windmills. This is, for a reason, a Unesco World Heritage site.

And the small city of Delft is soaked in history and beauty. It’s the Bruges of the Netherlands.

But it’s time-consuming (almost impossible) to do both in a day with public transportation.

When booking this private tour, that is no concern. I pick you up at your accommodation and take you to this beautiful area.

We’ll explore the old town of Delft, and we’ll talk about Vermeer (he lived here all his life), and then we will visit Kinderdijk, where there is enough time to visit the windmills and a boat tour.

  • Length: 8-10 hours
  • Price: €750 (per party). Meals and tickets are excluded.
  • Transportation: Car (SUV) I pick you up at your accommodation.

PS: to learn more about Delft, you can read my article here.

I am originally from this area, it always feels like going home. Plus, it’s just beautiful.

Kröller Müller Museum Private Transfer (Gerrit)

Culture and Nature Combined

How To Get To Kroller Muller Museum From Amsterdam.
Visit the Kröller Müller Museum in Otterlo – © Hidden Holland

The Kröller Müller Museum, outside Amsterdam, boasts the world’s 2nd largest Van Gogh collection. Uniquely set in the country’s largest National Park.

This isn’t a private tour but a private transfer. Public transport to the museum is challenging. Instead, I offer a comfortable car ride from your accommodation.

En route, we can chat, and I’ll sprinkle in travel tips for your journey. While you’re there you can visit the museum, take a free bicycle for a ride around the park, and visit some interesting places like a castle.

I do not give a tour at the museum myself, this is a transfer-only service, but you book a private tour directly with the museum (cost +/- €95)

  • Length: 6 hours
  • Price: €400 (per party). Transportation and parking.
+€30 per person for entrance tickets (museum and national park).
  • Transportation: Car (SUV) I pick you up at your accommodation.

PS: learn more about the Kröller Müller Museum in my article here.

Netherlands Tulip Fields Private Tour (Gerrit)

Tulips As Far As The Eye Can See

Visit the real production fields – © Hidden Holland

Keukenhof is open from March to May, but in nature, tulips bloom for just a few weeks, mainly mid-April to early May. If you want to see the famous Netherlands tulip fields outside, this is when to come.

During this time, you’ll see colorful tulips everywhere when you know where to look. While you can find some fields around Lisse (home to the Keukenhof park), they’re often packed with tourists. The real, vast production tulip fields are in a different spot.

I’ll take you to these fields in Flevoland. It’s less crowded, definitely more local, and I can tell the stories along the way.

  • Length: 6 hours
  • Price: €600 (per party). Food excluded.
  • Transportation: Car (SUV) I pick you up at your accommodation.

These three weeks (mid-April to May) are the busiest weeks of the year. Book early if you want to take this tour. I only have 9 slots.

Since my availability is limited, booking in advance is essential if you want to go on a tour with me.

When I’m not available anymore, I highly recommend these partners:

With Locals – Private Tours By Professional Guides

They specialize in local tours, and they are Dutch. What I love most about them is the high quality of tour guides they work with. You can choose which guide you’d like to book for your tour. All tours are private, and the money you spend stays local.

If you’re curious, you can look at their offers and guides here. I’m happy to refer people to them.

Eat With – Local Food Experiences

Eat With is a company I can also highly recommend. If you’ve never heard about them, they specialize in food experiences only.

You can find Eat With worldwide, and they have some fantastic local hosts in Amsterdam.

You can book food tours, private cooking classes, or enjoy a meal inside a local person’s home, which is a unique experience.

All experiences can be booked as a small group or private experience.

It’s a great way to meet locals, learn about Dutch customs, and enjoy a meal at the same time.

A recommendation I can make that is both a workshop and sharing a meal inside a beautiful canal home is this “Learn to Make Dutch Pancakes in a Beautiful Amsterdam Canal House” experience.

Self Guided Tours

If a private tour is not for you, and you don’t like going on a group tour, a self-guided tour can be the solution.

Here are a few I highly recommend while in Amsterdam:

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a tour with you as my guide?

You can book a tour with me with the form above, choose the tour, and include your travel dates. I’ll let you know within 24 hours if I am available for the requested date. If so, I will send you the payment details, and after payment, your tour is confirmed.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel up to 60 days ahead for a full refund. Between 30-59 days, get a 90% refund or rebook for free. Within 30 days, you can rebook for free or get a 75% refund. No changes are allowed within 48 hours of your tour.

Can you accommodate special requests?

I offer the six tours above, but slight modifications can always be made! I’ll do my best to accommodate you. Just fill out the appropriate box on the booking form.

Are your tours suitable for children or travelers with mobility issues?

Most tours can be customized for families or travelers with mobility issues. Please mention any specific needs when completing the booking form, and I will inform you within 24 hours if I can accommodate your request.

What is the maximum group size for your tours?

Due to strict local restrictions, I cannot accept bookings for parties larger than four people. For families traveling with children, the maximum group size is 5 (two adults and three children).

What languages do you offer tours in?

I primarily offer tours in English (near-native) and Dutch (native). For four years, I have spent 50% of my time in the United States (Burbank, CA 🇺🇸). I’ve also worked at an English-speaking job at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for many years.

Because of my time in the US and my best friend still living there, it’s natural for me to bridge cultural differences and references.

I also speak conversational Swedish. Still, conducting most of the tour in English is probably best if you’re a Swedish speaker 😊.

Do you provide transportation during the tour?

Yes, see each tour description above. Most tours are by car. I will use a comfortable SUV for these tours unless chosen differently.

The Amsterdam Food tour is a walking tour. But we can optionally also travel by bike or tram. If you don’t have the right ticket, I can add these to the tour price.

The museum tours start at the museum unless you request otherwise.

What should I wear or bring during the tour?

It’s best to wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking and adapt your clothes to the weather. Bring a water bottle and a fully charged phone to take plenty of pictures.

Don’t worry if you forgot your water. I always carry an extra bottle and gladly provide you with one free of charge. I have a battery pack (with a lightning and USB-C cable) if needed.

Will you visit the red light district?

No, I will not offer tours into the red-light district due to local restrictions and personal preference. If you want to book a tour in this area, it’s best to book a small group tour with a specialized provider who can navigate the complicated rules and ensure a pleasant experience.

Are tips included?

Tips are not included in the quoted price. Leaving a tip is optional and at your discretion as a token of appreciation if you had a good and fun tour with me. Here is my guide on Tipping in Amsterdam to understand how to tip here.
