There is plenty of parking at Keukenhof ā and itās well organized.
But whether driving is the best choice depends on how much hassle you want to deal with.
This page is for travelers who are already considering driving themselves to Keukenhof and want to know what to expect.
If youāre still deciding how to get there, Iād start with my main Keukenhof guide instead.
I recommend driving only if:
- You arrive before 10 a.m. or after 3 p.m.
- You visit on a weekday
During the busiest times there be long waiting times just to enter the parking lot. A tour is then a better option. Here is an inexpensive bus roundtrip (plus entrance) or consider booking a private tour with me.

Parking Availability at Keukenhof
Keukenhof has two large, paved parking areas with space for roughly:
- 4,500 cars
- 1,000 coaches
Because Keukenhof now works with time-slotted entry tickets, parking itself does not sell out.
When people complain about āparking at Keukenhof,ā theyāre almost always talking about the access roads to the parking lots, not the parking lot itself.

Keukenhof Parking Prices
Parking at Keukenhof in 2026 costs ā¬14 per car.
If you pre-book online, the price is lower and you skip the payment line on arrival.
My advice:
If youāre driving, I always suggest booking parking in advance together with your entrance tickets.
Parking is on-site ā you wonāt need to shuttle or walk far.
The Main Issue: Traffic Around Keukenhof
This is where expectations matter.
- Roads around Keukenhof are narrow
- Traffic builds up quickly during tulip season
- Weekends and Dutch public holidays are the worst
- Locals visiting for a few hours cause most congestion ā not tour buses
On busy days:
- 30 minutes of delay is common
- Up to 60 minutes is not unusual in peak weeks
This is why Iām selective about when I recommend driving. Especially, if you’re visiting from abroad there are much better alternatives. You can book an affordable coach service to take you to the park and back. Just know they only drive during peak hours. Or you can book a private transfer, like my own.

Parking Address & Navigation
If you do decide to drive, here is the practical information that you need:
Parking address:
Stationsweg 166A, 2161 AM, Lisse
From Amsterdam:
- Take the A4, exit Nieuw-Vennep.
From The Hague:
- Take the A44, exit Lisse
Follow the Keukenhof signs from there. Google Maps works well for this journey and I recommend using it.
Best Time to Arrive by Car
Based on many spring seasons:
- Before 10 a.m. ā best arrival window
- After 3 p.m. ā calmer return traffic
- Midday ā busiest and least predictable
This matters most in April, when bloom and visitor numbers peak.

Accessibility & Security
- Parking areas are flat, paved, and clearly marked
- Designated disabled parking is available close to the entrance
- The area is monitored
- If you have an electric vehicle tell the staff, there are charges close to the entrace
Still, even though the parking lot is very safe, basic advice always applies:
Lock your car and donāt leave valuables visible.

My Honest Take
Driving to Keukenhof can work very well ā if you choose the right day and time. Parking is easy but get your parking ticket in advance.
If your goal is a calm, well-paced visit where you focus on the gardens instead of traffic, this is usually the point where people decide to let me handle the day instead.
Either way, plan ahead. Tulip season is short ā and timing makes all the difference.
Frequently Asked Questions Keukenhof Parking
Can I reserve a specific parking spot at Keukenhof?
No. You canāt choose a specific spot. Booking online guarantees access to the parking area on your chosen date, not a numbered space. Book your entrance tickets here, then add a parking ticket before your finalize your order.
Is there a shuttle from the parking area to the entrance?
No shuttle is needed. The parking areas are directly next to the entrance. Itās a short, flat walk. Disabled parking is right in front of the entrance building.
How do I pay for parking?
You can pay on-site by card or cash, but I recommend booking online when you buy your entry ticket. It saves time and avoids queues at the payment machines.
Are there charging stations for electric cars?
Yes, there are EV charging points, but theyāre limited and first come, first served. I wouldnāt plan your day around charging here. The Netherlands has excellent fast-charging coverage nearby. But ask staff if spots are still available.
What if the parking lot is full when I arrive?
Iāve never seen this happen since Keukenhof introduced time-slotted visits. On extremely busy days, overflow parking may be used, and staff will direct you. In practice, delays come from traffic ā not lack of parking.
