Hotels near Keukenhof: Where to Stay Near Tulip Gardens 🌷

Where you stay during tulip season matters more than people think.

Choosing a hotel location during Keukenhof season makes the day either easy and relaxed… or unnecessarily complicated.

šŸ‘‹ Hi, I’m Gerrit — your local Dutch guide behind Hidden Holland. I help travelers plan smarter trips. See how I can help →

The question is simple:
Do you want to wake up next to the gardens? Or stay in a beautiful Dutch city and travel in for the day?

If you’re still figuring out how to visit Keukenhof itself, start with my full Keukenhof 2026 guide for tickets, tours, and timing.

Below, I’ll walk you through the best places to stay, starting with the closest option to the gardens.

Lisse – Walking Distance to Keukenhof (Most Convenient)

If your priority is being as close as possible to Keukenhof, Lisse is the simplest choice.

It’s a small village right next to the gardens. From here, you can walk to the entrance and you’re surrounded by real tulip fields.

That convenience is hard to beat during peak season.

My top picks in Lisse:

What to know before you book

Lisse is practical, but quiet.

Public transportation connections are limited, so having your own car makes things much easier.

If you don’t want to rent a car, you can pre-book a local taxi transfer to and from Keukenhof. It’s straightforward and saves you from waiting for seasonal buses.

There’s no Uber in Lisse, so arranging transport in advance is the safest option during peak tulip weeks.

If you’re only visiting Keukenhof for a few hours and want more restaurants, museums, and atmosphere, I usually recommend staying in Amsterdam instead and coming down for the day.

If you prefer door-to-door service, I offer private transfers and full tulip tours from Amsterdam.

TIP: One advantage of Lisse that many people do not expect: hotels here are often more affordable than Amsterdam, even though you’re right next to the gardens.

Boutique Suites Lisse, close to the park entrance

Noordwijk – Beach + Tulips (Most Relaxed Option)

If you like the idea of combining tulips with sea air, Noordwijk is a very comfortable base.

It’s about 12 km from Keukenhof. You get wide North Sea beaches, good restaurants, and space to unwind after a busy day in the gardens.

Direct bus 90 connects Noordwijk to Keukenhof in roughly 35 minutes during the season.
Or you can pre-book a private taxi transfer if you prefer door-to-door comfort.

Noordwijk works especially well if:

  • You’re staying multiple nights
  • You enjoy beach walks
  • You prefer a quieter evening atmosphere

My recommended hotels in Noordwijk

Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin
Classic beachfront luxury with panoramic sea views. Ideal if you want a high-end stay during tulip season.

Van der Valk Palace Noordwijk
Practical and comfortable, with parking and bike rentals, good if you plan to explore the fields independently.

Vesper Hotel
Small boutique hotel right by the beach. Stylish, intimate, and very relaxed.

Hogerhuys Noordwijk (adults only)
A quiet option with sea views, popular with couples.

Hotel Huis ter Duin, right on the beach in Noordwijk

Leiden – Culture + Easy Access to Keukenhof

If you want more atmosphere in the evenings, Leiden is a very good choice.

It’s about 20 km from Keukenhof, with direct buses running during the opening season. The city itself is compact, full of canals, museums, and good restaurants, and noticeably calmer than Amsterdam.

Leiden works well if:

  • You enjoy historic cities
  • You want culture beyond tulips
  • You prefer a relaxed but lively base

My recommended hotels in Leiden

Boutique Hotel Steenhof Suites (adults only)
Elegant suites in a former factory building, within walking distance of Leiden’s main sights.

Boutique Hotel d’Oude Morsch
Right by the windmill and near the station, excellent location if you’re traveling in and out for day trips.

Landgoed Oud-Poelgeest
A historic estate just outside the city center. Staying here feels like sleeping in a small Dutch castle, surrounded by greenery.

Haarlem – Historic City + Direct Bus to Keukenhof

If you want character, restaurants, and a real Dutch city feel without staying in Amsterdam, Haarlem is an excellent choice.

It’s just 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam, close to the beach, and has one of the most beautiful churches in the country: St. Bavo on the Grote Markt.

During tulip season, Bus 50 connects Haarlem directly to Keukenhof, which makes it surprisingly convenient.

Haarlem works especially well if:

  • You want atmosphere in the evenings
  • You prefer a smaller city over Amsterdam
  • You’re planning to see the Flower Parade

The parade route ends in Haarlem, and the floats are displayed in the city center the evening of the parade and the following day, which makes staying here a smart choice that weekend.

My recommended hotels in Haarlem

Amrâth Grand Hotel Frans Hals
Right on the central square. Excellent location if you want to step outside into restaurants and cafƩs.

Boutique Hotel Staats
Stylish boutique hotel within walking distance of the station. Good balance between charm and convenience.

B&B Hotel Malts
Family-run and very personal, right in the historic center. A warm, intimate option.

Teylers Museum Haarlem Mike Bink.

Amsterdam – Best for a City Base + Easy Tour Access

Amsterdam is not the closest option to Keukenhof, but for many travelers, it’s the most practical base.

You get museums, canals, restaurants, and energy in the evenings. Then you visit the gardens as a day trip.

If you choose my Tulip Fields + Keukenhof tour or Keukenhof-only private tour, I’ll pick you up directly at your Amsterdam hotel and bring you back at the end of the day. That makes Amsterdam especially convenient.

Several group shuttle tours also depart from Amsterdam, including options with flexible return times.

Amsterdam works best if:

My recommended hotels in Amsterdam

Ambassade Hotel
One of my personal favorites along the canal belt. Classic, elegant, and perfectly located if you want a beautiful historic setting.

DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Central Station
Very practical if you’re planning day trips. You’re next to the main train station and within easy reach of shuttle departures and transport connections.

The Ambassade offers charm and atmosphere.
The DoubleTree wins on convenience.

Important Things to Know About Keukenhof Stays

Keukenhof is open from March 19 to May 10, 2026. The gardens are designed to look good throughout that period, but bloom timing in the surrounding fields is shorter and weather-dependent.

If seeing outdoor tulip fields is important to you, read my guide on the best time to see tulips in the Netherlands before finalizing your dates.

Hotels near Keukenhof fill up quickly, especially in mid-April. If you already know your travel window, I recommend booking sooner rather than later.

Many hotels in this region offer bike rentals, which is one of the nicest ways to explore the surrounding countryside. If your hotel doesn’t, bikes can also be rented near the Keukenhof parking area.

Before cycling into the fields, make sure you know where access is allowed. My Tulip Do’s and Don’t Do’s guide explains the difference between production fields and visitor-friendly areas.

While Lisse offers the shortest walk to the entrance, towns like Haarlem, Leiden, Noordwijk, and even Amsterdam can offer a richer overall stay depending on your itinerary.

If you’re unsure which base fits your plans best, I’m happy to look at your schedule and help you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hotels Near Keukenhof

How far in advance should I book a hotel near Keukenhof?

Book at least 3–4 months in advance for April and early May, especially for weekends. Mid-April fills up fastest, and popular hotels often sell out completely, so if your dates are fixed, it’s best to secure your room early.

Is it better to stay in Amsterdam or closer to Keukenhof?

If Keukenhof is your main focus and you have a car, staying in Lisse or Noordwijk gives you early access and less travel time. If you prefer restaurants, museums, and a livelier atmosphere in the evenings, Amsterdam works well, especially if you’re using a shuttle or private tour.

Are there hotels within walking distance of Keukenhof?

Yes, several hotels in Lisse are within walking distance of the entrance, including Boutique Suites Lisse and Hotel de Duif, which makes them the most convenient option during busy tulip weeks.

What’s the price range for hotels near Keukenhof during tulip season?

Expect roughly €100–150 per night in Lisse, €130–180 in Leiden, Noordwijk or Haarlem, and €180+ in Amsterdam, with prices peaking in mid-April and on weekends.
